Dubai

January 2017 —

Dubai is one of seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).  It is considered the shopping capital of the Middle East. With its many world-famous man-made structures built in recent years, Dubai was a great stop-over on our way to Africa, and three days here was a great way to acclimate to the time change.  Whether we were:

(1) Riding the Dunes of Arabia; Experiencing a desert sunset, Having dinner and entertainment in a Bedouin campsite…..

(2) Shopping at The Dubai Mall; Going to the top of the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa (148 floors high) to see a pocket-sized Dubai, Arabian Gulf, and the desert laid out below it; Visiting the beautiful Burj Al Arab hotel sitting of beautiful beaches….

(3) Taking a water taxi across the Dubai Creek to stroll through the spice and old souks (markets) where the air is full of spices….

(4) Making a photo stop at Jumeirah Mosque; or Visiting the 180-year-old Al Fahidi Fort (now the Dubai Museum….

We enjoyed our time in Dubai
